Mandevilla rerooting from its clippings

Question
am so frustrated! Please help... :) I have been trying to grow roots of the White Mandevilla Plant that i have.  Its mate died on me (during hurricane season) and I want to duplicate this plant for they both were part of my daughter's beach wedding. I tried the Shultz powder method, tried just putting it in water.  Nothing is working. What am I doing wrong?  I would be so grateful for any suggestions!  Obviously this is very important to me-very sentimental :)  For I can't replace "Emory" with another "man" LOL :D. Don't think Amie would like that! :)

Answer
Hello Janet,

Lets see if we can get you a new "Emory". What you want to do is take one of the side shoots growing off the main vine and plant it in a half sand/perlite (which ever's handy) and peat mix. Keep the mix slightly moist and misting the shoot every once in a while wont hurt either. You could also try some of the shultz powder to speed things up. In any case you should have roots after about a month. The cutting should also be kept at a temp of 70-75F this is very important and i think it's where you're failing if you keep it in an air-conditioned house.

If you have anymore questions let me know.

Good luck,
Justin
