its dying! waaahh!!!

Question
Hi there,

My daughter has given me a house plant that she's had for quite some time and can't seem to be able to keep it alive. I am unable to identify it and the only clue I have is a stick in the pot that says "Teddy Bear, Dec.6th"
The leaves are the same shape as a jade plant but and are quite fuzzy on both sides with a very deep red tinge on the underside. It seems to want to be a creeper. I've only had it a little while and it's doing worse since it got here. I've tried to keep it in the sun and then out of the sun. My window faces west. We've fed it plant food and that seemed to make it even worse still. At this time I'm drying it out hoping that maybe I gave it too much water.
Any information you may have on this would be greatly appreciated. It's such a lovely plant and when she first bought it, it was VERY lush and full!

Thanks,

Dianne

Answer
Diane,

http://www.paghat.com/kalanchoe.html  Check out that site and let me know if that is your plant. if so it needs bright light and little water, to be treated like a cactus. It needs to be in sandy cactus soil and only needs fertilizer once a year or so. If it is not your plant I need a picture to help you identify what you have. Please send it to [email protected]    If it is your plant and you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.

Darlene
