caterpillars or worms from a house plant

Question
house plant problem
house plant problem
Hello,
I noticed some caterpillars or small worms in the top portion of the soil of my house palm plant. Attached please see the picture. What are these? How do I get rid of them?
Thank you.

Answer
Marina,

They may be the larva to fungus gnats or to a moth that you don't want in your home. In any case you can kill them by watering your plant with 2 parts rubbing alcohol to one part water. It will kill any insects or worms in the soil and not harm the roots of the plant. I would do it 3 times one week apart. Good luck!
