Cat palms

Question
I very recently purchased 2 cat palms from a Lowes.  I planted them in the ground and they get bright sun the entire day.  they have only been in the ground for about 4 days and they are turning yellow.  Any chance I shouldn't have planted them in the ground. Can they survive?  I even bought food for them on the recommendation of the sales assistant.

Answer
Gale,

Cat palms do not like full sun and they like lots of water and high humidity. You did not say where you live but it could be from too much sun, too little water or too low of humidity. They can survive for awhile but ultimately no. Move them to a shady wet location and yes they will survive outdoors if you are in a tropical area. Good luck.
