indoor potted palm tree

Question
I recently received a potted palm tree and know nothing about the care for them. how much do I water them? when do I repot them how much of the fertilizer treatment do I use? can I just use Epson salt and water?

Answer
Hi Amy,
Palms needs bright light, except the dwarf date palm which needs lower light. Allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry between watering and mist it regularly. I would recommend using distilled water as palms are sensitive to fluoride and chlorine. You should use only 1/2 strength of the amount called for in the directions on the fertilizer package.
You should never add Epsom salt to a plant unless it shows signs of magnesium deficiency, Leaves turning yellow except the veins remain green, beginning with older lower leaves and leaves suddenly drop off the plant in large numbers without wilting first.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
Tracy
