Indoor Norwegian Pines

Question
We adopted a small pot containing three Norwegian Pine trees at Christmas about 10 years ago.  They are still in our kitchen in north Texas.  They are about 7 1/2 feet tall now and take up more room than we really have to share.  Is there a way to transplant these outdoors without killing them?  I give them spring water since the chemicals in our water in our city kills indoor plants.  We decorate these trees every Dec.  We are very fond of them.  Any advice will be sincerely appreciated!

Answer
The heat of Texas may give the tree a hard time but it can be planted now. Dog the hole twice the size of the pot and as deep and fill with good top soil. Mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the tree trunk. Conifers are best planted now so the roots can become established before the summer heat. This summer I would water it once a week with 1 inch of water-place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop.
