Potting Carnivorous Plants

Question
Sarracenia x Dain\'s Delight
Sarracenia x Dain's De
I recently purchased your Sarracenia x Daina's Delight.  The plant is doing well and I even found that some very small sun dews are also growing in the pot.  My question is: am I able to transfer my pitcher plants and fly trap to a fiberglass planter (no hole)if I keep it sufficiently wet.  Perhaps I should put a hole near the top of the planter to keep it from getting too wet.  The planter is approx. 15" tall by 20" wide.  Would the fiberglass hurt the plants?  Thanks for your answers.

Answer
Hi Lee,

Fiberglass is no problem since once the epoxy is cured, it is fairly inert.  The problem would be an undrained container.  You end up with poor oxygenation, and set up an environment for bacterial build-up and root rot.  If you drill holes in the bottom and either find a water tray large enough for it, or you're just very diligent about top-watering, it would work.  Since your planter is large it won't dry out quickly.  You would still be watering daily during hot weather.

Good Growing!
