Re Potting

Question
I have grown carnivorous plants, pitcher, Venus fly trap and sundew for the past three years and have them together in one large pot in the garden. I wanted to re pot them into separate larger pots using a peat/perlite mix and add more species. Can this be done now (October) or do I need to wait until the spring time. I live in the North West of England.

Answer
Hi Ian,

We generally recommend to repot your plants in early spring.  However, you can do so at anytime of the year if you can keep their roots undisturbed as much as possible.  You may also have no choice but to repot your plants if the soil is contaminated, if you suspect fungus or if you simply need a new pot.  So it's generally a judgment call on your part.  If possible, wait until next spring.  If you want to repot now, avoid rinsing off the old soil around the roots to keep the roots undisturbed.

Good growing!
