Yellow Spots on Stem of Cilantro

Question
Yikes! I just started my first herb garden in a window box on a very sunny side of my house. I have cilantro, basil, and rosemary. All the plants look beautiful and healthy, although the rosemary hasn't spread very much.  The cilantro however just seems to have developed something I can only suggest is a fungus although I have no idea really.  All along the stems of the new growth (not the old growth that was on the plant when I bought it) there are tiny yellow specs. I can wipe them off and I did on a couple stalks. Any idea what it might be and how to fix it?

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

I would first make sure your cilantro isn't too wet because if this is a fungal issue, letting your plant dry down a bit will help. Make sure your plant has good air circulation as well. If your plant is not too moist I would keep an eye on this issue to see if it spreads to neighboring plants or to the old growth or if it starts producing adverse effects to your plant. In which case i would take action by giving it a haircut to remove these infected areas.
