brown spots on plant

Question
i have brown spots on my plant, don"t know what is wrong with it

Answer
Dear Diane, Brown spots on plants usually indicate that a fungus is present, and that's not a good situation.  The spots probably started as small brown slightly sunken round dots, then growing outward and perhaps not staying so round.  At any rate, here is what I would suggest:  First try to remove the spotted leaves, or prune off any extremely damaged area.  Fungus usually appears when conditions are too wet, so try drying your plant out a little more between waterings.  If you have a drip container under the plant, be sure to empty it after the plant has drained through.  Keep gardening equipment clean to prevent the spread of fungal spores.  Sometimes increasing the light that a plant gets will help destroy the fungus.  If all else fails, purchase a fungicidal product from a gardening center, hopefully one that covers your type of plant.  You don't mention what type of plant you have, and that might help me give you more specific advice, but these controls are pretty universal to whatever type of plant you have.  Good luck, Melissa
