yellow: allamanda

Question
In the winter the branches broke off of my plant in the winter during a storm.   Now I am left with a stump in the ground.  Will my allamanda grow back or do I snatch it out and replace it.   I have been watching it since the first of spring and nothing.   I planted it on October 2006.  it was beautiful, so many beautiful yellow flowers.  i water it like it says on the card on the plant and nothing.   the stub looks healthy.   I thought it would be okay.  but know I am wondering if I am waisting my time.     Help Me, Help Me...  Linda

Any information will be greatly appreciated

Answer
Linda, ok, I need you to scratch the trunk (or whats left of it)and see if the cambium layer underneath is still green; if so, then it should regenerate, if its brown, I'm afraid the plant is kaput. If it is green, then be patient, most people discard plants that they think are gone, when in fact they are on the brink of sending out new growth...Nick
