Broken Plant Stem

Question
Broken Stem1
Broken Stem1
We have a broken plant stem. It is a Dracaena Fragrans Cane that has survived for 15 years. Can you help us fix the stem and save the plant? Thank you.

Answer
Tonalea,

I would recommend that you first go get a bottle of rooting hormone at a garden center such as Lowes or Home Depot. Then I would cut off the broken cane entirely and dip it in the rooting hormone and insert it in the soil beside the parent plant. It will grow it's own roots within 2 months and the old parent plant will sprout a new top in 60-90 days and you will have 2 separate plants in your pot. In the future allow this plant to get very dry before you water it again. Good luck!
