Worms on lemon tree

Question
QUESTION: I have noticed some very ugly ugly looking worms on my leaves on my lemon trees that I have planted in my yard in Mobile, Alabama.  They appear to be eating the leaves.  I've never seen worms like this before.  When I poke at them with a stick, they get aggressive by sticking out their tongues. The tongue is forked and is red.  I've strayed the tress with some kind of oil based product that I use for black spot.  It had no effect on them. What can I spray with that will kill them and not harm the trees?  Please advise.  I have some pictures of the worms just in case you need to see one to determine the kind.

ANSWER: Sandra:
Yes, please go ahead and send me a good closeup photo if you have one.  Be sure to review the image on your computer first- to be sure it is in focus before sending.

Thanks
Steve

QUESTION: Here's the picture.  And the stuff I sprayed on the tree to kill the worm that had no affect was Neem Concentrate.  I looked at the bottle last nite.

Answer
Sandra:
These are the orangedog caterpillar. It is the immature form of a swallowtail butterfly.  On your computer using "Google Images" see some photos.  It mimics bird droppings on the tree foliage that it eats.  For control, if practical, just hand pull these things off or shake the tree to shake them off especially if the tree is smaller.  For chemicals, consider a product called Dipel or Thuricide, a biological insecticide.
