Meyer lemon tree problem

Question
I live in SE Texas and I have a meyer lemon tree that is about 8 years old.  It is very productive, but many of the lemons have a scabby looking, rough dry spots on them.  It does not affect the flavor or juiciness of the lemons.  It's just ugly.  What is this?  Also, this year something is affecting the leaves.  Many are curling up and have a transparent filmy looking substance on them.  This has been a very good tree and I don't want to lose it.  Hope you can help.  Thanks.

Answer
Judy,
There are several types of blight that will attack citus trees. I wuld recommend that you treat the tree with a broad spectrum fungicide in the spring and throuout the growing season.
As for the other problem, I would check to see if you have aphids. The transparent film that you see could be honeydew- the excrement from their feeding. Treat with horticultural oil to control them.
Good luck.
