Answer
Fred:

There are several diseases that can produce spots on the fruit such as scab, bitter rot, and anthracnose.  Can you send along a closeup photo of an affected fruit?  Be sure it is in focus by reviewing it on your computer first.  In the meantime, you can see some of these diseases by looking at "Google Images" and doing the search.

If you have just a couple of trees in your yard, you can reduce the incidence of diseases by removing the fallen fruit that is left on the ground at the end of the year.  These fruit can be a source for the disease to occur the next season.  Raking up leaves can be useful too, since some of the diseases can affect the fruit and leaves.
