Newly instakked sprinkler system - one zone wont shut off

Question
I was away when this happened but supposedly during a thunder and lightning storm my zone 2 of a newly installed sprinkler system (Hunter) went off and will not turn off.  The people watching my house had to pull out the electric plug to shut it off.  I am home now and just turned off the power switch which turned off the whole system.  Any suggestions as to what could have casued this one zone to  1st go off and second not turn off and any suggestions as to what I should do?  I will call the installer becasue there is a 3 year warranty and I just had it put in about a month ago but I woul dlike to know what the casue and possible solution might be.  Any help is greatly appreaciated

Answer
Al,
It appears the lightning may have caused this to happen. It isn't unusual for a single zone to have a lightning problem while the others continue to work fine. It was probably on when the lightning struck near by. The fact you can unplug the controller to shut it off tells me it is only the controller and not the valves, wire, etc.
Call your contractor. My guess is they will warranty it. Keeping you happy as a future reference is in their best interest. Unless the controller is blown-up and black, it could be coincidence it went bad during a storm.

Matt
