SPRINKLER WELL

Question
I have a well for irrigation and sprinkler system and when I used it the other day it produced scalding hot water and system ran fine, water eventually did return to cold. I set it up to run automatically and noticed that it was on and running and no water was coming out of the sprinklers.  I checked the prime on it and you can hear the water in the system, nothing is leaking and it is still not producing water out of the sprinklers.  It never produced hot water before and I don't know if thats even related to why it won't produce water now.  Can you help?

Answer
The only reason I can think of for the hot water is that the pump was cavitating---sort of churning the water---until it got primed.  Thats when the water became cold.  I would think that you must have a problem with the suction line, maybe a stuck foot valve.  This is a device at the end of the suction line that keeps it primed by holding the water after the pump shuts off.
