Well

Question
I have a pond that is fed by an underground well. i do not know many specifics of it because it was in place when we bought the property 2 months ago. There is a ball that hangs down and when the water gets below that ball it is supposed to make the pump for the well to come to start filling the pond again. it has not worked since we moved in. However if you open the control box for the well and press the "Contact"(thats what i was told it is called)the water will kick on. So my only guess is the contact is broken, my problem is nobody knows what i am talking about to even begin to help me find this part. Thank you in advance, please help!

Answer
I'm not sure exactly what the contact is like on your setup.  If the float calve is working properly, it may just be a small job for an electrician.  If the float check and valve are malfunctioning, you will have to do some minor plumbing; and in the worst case, replace the entire pump assembly.  Another option, if none of this works is to hire a well repair service to fix it.  It sounds a lot like a drinking water well system.
