Question -
Hi, I live in North Texas and I recently had one of my stations stay on past the time specified. I turned the whole system at the check valve until a repairman could come. He came today and got that station running correctly and as he was checking the other stations we all of a sudden had no water pressure on any station. I have checked all the stations and same thing, they just bubble slightly. Do you have any suggestions on what might be the problem? I can't afford to go much longer without water as we are having a serious drought and we are allowed to water only one day a week. Help!!

what did the service guy do when this happened? I would have to say look for a leak, before that check and make sure the water is on all the way. Easy way to check for a mainline leak is by listening when you open and close the shut off valve. If you hear water moving after the pipes should all be full then it's a leak. The other possibility is that the valves are acting up  and not shutting off and are all trying to run at the same time. If you can tell me what kind of valves you have or what kind of system it is it would help. Jim

Hi Jim,
The system is a Weathermatic. It is about 6 years old. There doesn't seem to be a leak because we looked at the main water meter to the house and it is not moving abnormally. The service guy didn't know what happened. He is supposed to be coming back tomorrow and I was hoping to have something for him to check that he might not have thought of.
Evidently, after he repaired the celunoid on the one valve that wouldn't go off last week, he was testing the other stations. All of them came on normally, except for one station. He turned the system off to check that station and when he started the test again, none of the stations would come on except for a little gurgle. I have been trying to turn on single stations to see if they might come on to no avail.
I have never had any trouble like this before with this system, only broken heads and such.
Thanks for any help you might offer.

Answer
LG,
It's 102 here and that's hot. OK, if you don't see the meter spinning that eliminates the big main leak. But what you can try now is to turn on a zone and then look at the meter and see if it is spinning crazy. Then it would be the thing to look at would be to see if there is a stuck valve( with a master valve on the system) or the clock or a crossed wire somewhere is turning on more then one valve and you don't have enough water to do that and that is why everything is not coming up.
