Irrotrol contorller

Question
My friend has an irrotrol controller. It shows a bad fuse on valve #1.I disconnected the valve and it still shows the same thing.I tried to test the other valves with no luck.Could it be a bad controller?
Thank you

Answer
Hey Dave, I hope this helps. Here's what I would try. First unhook the common wire in back of the controller, it will be marked with a C(common). Then take out the battery if you have one installed. Then un-hook the power for about 30 seconds. Then power the unit back up, and see what kind of display you are getting. If it still shows fuse on valve #1, then the controller is probably shot. If it shows a good display, then hook the common wire back up, and try to turn a zone on. If when you turn zone#1 on, and it still says fuse, then you either have a short in the wire going from the controller to the valve, or a bad solenoid. Good luck and let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks and have a good day.
