Question
I installed my reticulation about 18 years ago (I live in Perth Western Australia) and has performed perfectly until yesterday.  It has a Hardie controller and 5 solenoids/stations.  Now nothing happens.  I have - taken the master solenoid to Total Eden who checked it and said it works - have replaced the wiring to the soleniods above ground as the covering on most wires had deteriated. When trying to program "manual operation" the controller says "SC13" or similar.  Setting the controller for station 3 on auto gives a "SC14" reading.
Any clues?   Many thanks Peter B

Answer
what is the exact model of your controller? Hardie RainDial? RainDial Plus? or other?

My first thought is that an 18 year old controller may need to be replaced - in fact it is time. If your solenoids, wire connections, and wirepaths checkout as ok then go ahead with a new controller.

One last check before replacement - do you have a volt/ohm meter? if so you can check voltage output as well as resistance to make sure the controller needs replacement.

Check the voltage coming-in from your power supply <SHOULD BE 110-130VAC>, then check the voltage going-out to the solenoids (at the terminal strip)<SHOULD BE AROUND 24VAC>, then set the meter to "ohms" and check the solenoid resistance (at the terminal strip)<SHOULD BE BETWEEN 25-50 OHMS>.

now - even though the controller may check out it still may need replacement if its internal workings are fried (nice technical terminology, eh?)

Let me know how that works.
