Collard Greens

Question
This my first year growing collard greens (or anything for that matter.)  They were doing fine until a few days ago I see some of the bottom leaves are turning yellow and have a few holes in them like worms are eating at them I have put some sevin dust down but may be I am not using enough.  How often should I be watering?  Any tips will be appreciated I planted them about 3 weeks ago they were looking healthy now I am afraid I will lose my crop.  Please help.

Answer
Jocelyne:

I think you may have two problems with your collard greens, night cut worms and possibly a fungus.

Cut the bad looking leaves off. Lay plastic around the bottom of the plants to retard the worms. Use a light and hand pick the worms off when you can see them.

If the leaves continue to turn yellow you will need to spray with a general purpose fungicide.

Please let me know what your results are.

Best wishes.
