Question
My wife bought a large(5ft+ tall)broad leaf plant.  The stems seem to "fan" out, sliming from the base to a leaf that is approx. 12" wide by 18" long.  We are trying to save it and need to find the type to take the best steps.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Hi Bryan, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, in this case I really need it to tell you exactly what you have, that said however, most foliage plants require similar cultural practices; usually morning sun or lower light then flowering, regular misting of the leaves (once a day), soil conditions that are allowed to dry out between waterings. It should have been moved from the nursery container (the one it came in), and planted in a rich potting mixture in a larger container with drainage medium lining the bottom 2 inches. This is a generalization, keeping in mind that what you described could be one of many varieties, and some do require special treatment, if I only had that picture....Nick
