When Must You Plant To Avoid Loosing Tree

Question
When Must You Plant To Avoid Loosing Tree? I have grown seven viable avocado trees to date. All doing well outdoors in Largo (Zone 9-10) Florida.
To date, I have repotted the eldest trees three times. Currently, they are in 32 inch pots (approx., 3 cubic feet of soil)...
Any advise as to how long I can continue growing them utilizing this method and when they really need to be transplanted into the ground.
I really enjoy them potted, enjoy the height of the tree obtained while potted (nearly 6 feet in some cases)...

Answer
Hi CJ,
Thanx for your question.  I wish I could grow avocadoes in my climate.  I would have them in the orchard but it gets too cold here.  I lived in Florida many years ago.  I wouldn't keep transplanting the avocadoes which is probably what is leading to their demise if I understand your inquiry correctly.  I planted mine in a large pot and that's where they stayed.  I just kept them trimmed to 4-6 feet.  If you keep them dwarfed you don't have to keep changing the pot.  A 32 inch pot is quite large and I wouldn't transplant anymore.

I hope this helps.
Tom
