Coffee bean germination

Question
Hi my name is Bobby and I bought some coffee beans 3 weeks ago and I have quite a group of them in lids full of water trying to germinate them most of them have a small white area at the ends of them few already have the root poking through them, they say to soak them in water for 24 hours.

Answer
Hi Bobby,
Thanx for your question.  Sounds to me like your coffee beans have either already sprouted or are in the process (the white areas at the ends of the beans).  Place them gently about an inch deep in moist but not soggy potting soil.  Keep the soil moist and warm (75癋/24癈).  The young coffee seedlings will benefit from some humidity.  Place a pan of water near are heat register on the floor and keep it full of water to hydrate the air.  I hope this helps.
Tom
