white rose

Question
QUESTION: I am trying to find a large ivory rose that opens fast and full.  Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Sure!  Vendela is a great rose for that.  A lush ivory color, full large bloom and it forces open readily.  Good luck!

QUESTION: Thank you so much.  That's what I thought too, but one website claims they do not open fully.  If I have a Saturday wedding, when should I purchase the Vendela to make sure it is fully opened on the wedding day?

Answer
I would accept delivery on Tuesday, cut the stems and put the roses UP TO THEIR NECKS in room temperature water and keep overnight.  Evaluate Wednesday.  If they are opening too quickly, cut the stems again (you want to make a fresh cut each day and change the water each day) and put in COOL water and store them in a COOL DARK ROOM until you're ready to work with them.  If they aren't opening quickly enough, again cut the stem, put in WARM water and keep in a regular, warmish room.  If you need to force them open, here's a trick.  Soak QTips in water and place gently in between the partially unfurled petals to wedge them open a little.  Put a hairdryer on low/warm and gently warm the roses. The heat along with the gentle push will encourage them to open wider and faster (it's a great trip I learned at rose shows!)  Good Luck!
