Banana Palm leaf/frond discoloration

Question
Hello,

I am in Oakland California, and am writing about our banana palm that is starting to look a bit stressed out. There is discoloration/drying on many of the leaves/fronds, starting from the edges and working its way to the inside.

I know that bananas aren't so into colder weather, so I am wondering if this would be the cause. Thanks in advance for any info...

Michou

Answer
Hi Michou, You can either cut away the discolored leaves or you can just cut the trunk below the bad growth and a new plant will form from the cut; this is often the best root, for it will develop nice green healthy leaves. Cold is definitely the nemesis of a Banana and the lack of water also takes it toll. Nick
