potted adonidia palm

Question
i transplanted some adinidia palms straight from buying them into biger containers for outside. although they had some spots on a few fronds when purchase they seemed healthy. i mixed sand in with the potting soil, put rock in container for drainage, (EXPERT)and after one week put fertilizer/palm on them. i watch the amount of water in soil and don't water when it rains. the leaves seem droopy, also have one in the ground and the same thing droopy leaves.what am i doing wrong?

Answer
Hi Debbie, Palms need to adjust to a new surrounding when planted and often show stress while going through this adjustment; it sounds like you have all the bases covered, especially watching the watering, there is a happy median when it comes to irrigating new Palms, they do need to be kept irrigated until the roots set themselves but care must be taken not to have the roots sitting in water. Stay steadfast in your monitoring of them, from what you have told me, everything is by the book, but I would spray the fronds with a "Nutrient spray for Palms" , to help them through the adjustment period, for this is stressful time for them, and if you notice when the City or County put in new Palms, they go through the same period of adapting.
