Question
We have a flowering almond tree in our front yard (west facing).  We haven't had any flowering for a couple of years and I was wondering if there is something I should be doing in early spring to get them blooming.  There seems to be alot of buds they just don't bloom.

Not really.  Inconsistent flowering in trees is typically a resonse to environmental conditions.  It could be water related especially if you have had drought conditions the previous year.  I would make sure the tree is well watered this year.
