Question
Hello, I hope you can help with this. I am cutting down a Birch tree that is dying and my question is, I am going to have the stump ground down as far as the grinder will go, about 18"-24". In its place I am going to plant an Autumn Blaze Maple. Can I plant the Maple on or near where the Birch was?

Thanx for your question.  I am not a tree expert but I think I can direct you to someone who is.  If you will go to Home/Garden then click on Trees and then Click on Trees again you will find our expert Jim Hyland who is a forestry expert and has many years experience with the U.S. Forestry Service.  He can give you a more knowledgeable answer regarding trees than I can.
