WATERING NEWLY TRANSPLANTED TREES

Question
I live in an urban are which used to have beautiful treem but have been cut down about thirety years ago, recently, I have managed to get the city to replace several trees in front of my house. The trees are about 8 to 10 feet in height, rather thin  in trunk and the leaves are very small. I have seen many videos on youtube concerning the subject but am geetiung confusied as to who to trust. Some say water them every weekend, otjers say everyday. Some say at least twenty gallons of water where as other say just a few minutes will be enough. it took me quite a bit of effort to aquire these trees and i do not wish them to did. the last time they planted new trees most of them died as the park planters said that they suffered from some sort of scale, but I am not sure if the same problem  is happening to these new trees. they were planted in late April in philadelphia, and we have had quite a lot of rain during those months of April and may.Do i need to water them deeply and often or just once every two weeks? they are planted along the sidewalk and not in an open field type of enviroment. Also what do you know of adding coffee grounds to soil for fertilizer, these would be fresh grounds, never used or boliled.help would be much appreciated

Answer
Most trees do not like to sit in water logged soil. Try to prod the soil and see if it is water logged. If it is, let it dry out in the upper 6" before watering again. Overall, the soil should feel like a rung out sponge- moist but not soaked.

Coffee grounds would not likely benefit the trees in any measurable way, but they won't hurt anything either.
