trees and watering

Question
I planted three trees that were in pots in my yard a week ago (East Tennessee), a Blue Spruce, Leland Cypress, and a flowering Cherry Tree.  My question is how often should I be watering them?  I have been giving each one a large watering can of water every day but I am afraid it may be to much watering.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
IF they are still in the pots transplant them to the ground. Yes this is too much water. In pots  only water when the first couple of inches of soil is dry. Then apply about 1 inch of water on the pot. BUT trees like these do not do well for long in pots.

In the ground trees do not need water unless it does not rain for a couple of weeks--drought conditions. Then they need 1 inch of water --place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do not do this more then once a week even during droughts.
