Watering

Question
Hi, Jim.  We live in east Texas where everyone is experiencing weather that is dry and hot!  Our large oak trees are beginning to feel the strain.  What is the best way to water them until we get past this drought?  Should we let the water from a hose trickle out at night, or go full blast in the early morning? And for how long?  Help, please!  Thanks.

Answer
Here is a web link that will give you the answers to your questions. In general water about 2-3 inches each week (place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 2 inches in it stop. http://warnell.forestry.uga.edu/service/library/index.php3?docID=164&docHistory%...
