transplanting hydrengas

Question

it still has flowers on it   ,should i prune it now and how do i do it lol.

Answer
Anne,
The recommendation is to wait until the flowers die back, then you can prune. Remove any dead stalks and you can thin out the plant if you wish to. I would not go too crazy with the pruning.
As far as transplanting, I would recomend waiting until it gets cooler. Dig the hole that the plant is going into twice as big as the root ball that you will be digging up. Make sure to water it well after transplanting and fertilize it with a low nitrogen granular fertilizer.
Good luck.
