rhododendriums

Question
I planted a rhododendrium in my front bed 2 years ago, and it has not flowered since the year I purchased.  It has sprouted new leaves, but no flowers.  It is about 4 feet in front of house and is a very shady area, gets some afternoon sun. Why won't it flower?  Thanks for any advice.

Answer
Hard to say, when do you prune it? dont prune it from now untill next summer, if yo prune in the fall, you are pruning off its flower buds for next year. it could be soil, or water conditions. try fertilizer in the fall and spring, an acid based fertilizer will help them along, you can give them a shot of it now as well. other than that, I have no other suggestions. Good luck.
