New growth drying up

Question
New problem this year - Not getting roses on many rose plants(not the knock outs) b'cuz new growth where the roses form is drying up.  The plants are otherwise healty looking.  I have fertizized with the Bayer 3 in 1.  2 applications so far.  One in April and one the middle of June.
This started in spring (thought it was too wet), but now that it is dry, the same thing is happening.  Any thoughts?

Thanks, Pat

Answer
Hi Patricia,

It may be this heat.   You may want to water them every other day.  I had some that put out an inch of new growth and I had missed watering; the growth looked like a match was stuck to it.   Here in SC we have been hitting 102- 105 degrees.  Also, if the plants are not used to it, they will leaf burn.

Extreme winds will dry the new growth as well.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,

Jay
