Im getting ready to begin...

Question
I'm getting ready to begin planting, having just purchased a home.  Do you think that I should start with seeds, plants from the nursery, or both?  Cost is a factor, and hardiness is as well.  If I plant seeds can I expect to see something next spring?

I live in Greensboro, NC, just in case this helps you in answering my questions.

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Janine,
Thanx for your questions.  If cost is a factor, seeds are definitely the way to go but you need the right set up which initially will involve some bucks.  Now, you could start your seeds indoors and then move the flats outdoors to a protected place once the seeds germinate and then you don't need shelving units and shop lights, etc.  If you plant perennials this year, most will not bloom until next year.  I would start some seeds but I would also purchase plants from the nursery.  I hope this helps.
Tom
