Repotting an indoor house plant

Question
I just repottend a plant a week ago. I am not sure what kind of plant it is other than I know to prune it you can pinch off the vines and put them in water to reroot them. After I repotted the plant it has become limp. The vines I put in water did the same thing. I have never had this happen before. The plant was very healthy before I started messing with it. It needd to be repotted but I don't know if I am killing it or how to help it come back. I am sending pictures to your other email address.

Thank you for any suggestions you might have.

Answer
Hi Carrie,

I received your e-mail, but there were no photos attached, so I cannot identify your plant. Please try again.

I can tell you, however, that the problem was the repotting. I know you believed that it needed repotting, but I am sure, based on experience, that it did not.

Unnecessary repotting is the single most common cause of plant problems, including yours.

You can start by unpotting your plant, removing all of the soil that you added, then put it back into its original pot or one of comparable size.

After I receive the photo, I will ID the plant and provide you with good care instructions.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
