Potted Peach Tree

Question
We live in a town home in Southern Utah.  We got a peach tree and planted it in a large pot (15 gal (I think)).  There seem to be a few yellow leaves every day, even though it seems to be growing bushier.  Is that bad?  we have been watering it 2 times a week. Is that too much?  We pulled all of the fruit off when we bought the tree to allow it to put energy into becoming healthy after the transplant, and we have "3-in-1" spray for insects, mites, and fungus. any other advice you can offer?  My wife loves the tree and I would like to help her keep it healthy.

Answer
There are two things I see that may be the problem. If you water on a time table, and not when the soil is dry, then the watering may be the problem. Try checking the soil, about a half finger length down to see if it is truly dry. Then water until the water come out of the bottom of the container. Don't water again, until it is dry again. Check the drainage to see if the water is able to run out. It will kill the tree if the water is collecting in the bottom of the container. Don't let the water sit in a saucer in the bottom of the container. The weather will influence how quickly it dries, so check the soil often. A general rule to look for is, yellow leaves mean there is too much water, and brown leave means it is too dry.
The second thing that may be causing the yellow leaves is the 3-in-1 spray. It won't kill the tree, but it will sometimes cause the leaves to die. Always read the label carefully, and don't use too much, or too often.  It is a great product, but it can be damaging.
