Question
HI .....I have a tall over 6ft houseplant with spiky brown stem and very large pear shaped leafs.  I have recently moved it and it is loosing its leafs slowly.  They are turning yellow with brown spots.  I would love to know the name of the plant so I can know how to care for it.  It was a gift so I do not know name.   thanks

Answer
Hi Penny,

Your description is lacking in detail, but I am going to take an educated guess that you have a fiddle leaf fig or Ficus lyrata.

If this is what you have, let me know and I will provide care instructions for you. If it is not what you have, please email a photo to my email address below or give me a more detailed description, specifically how it differs from the Ficus lyrata.

If this information has been helpful, please take the time to give me a rating and nomination. Ratings are the only compensation I receive for answering plant questions.
