trimming a night blooming cereus

Question
I have a night blooming cirrus which has some brown leaves and is a bit leggy. How do I safely cut back the plant without killing it?

Answer
Dibs,

Simply take sharp scissors or pruners and cut of the brown parts. You can also cut back sections that you consider leggy, especially round sections. Flowers only grow out of the flat leaf sections but the plant tends to grow round stemmy sections. On mine I cut off the round sections  and if they have flat leaf sections attached I cut those off and reroot those back into the same pot discarding the round sections. It keeps the plant more compact.  Keep the plant in the sunniest location possible. Be careful not to overwater. In the winter especially do not watr more often than once every 3 - 4 weeks. It will be fine. Good luck.
