Growing From Seed

Question
Hi, i want to grow a Nepenthes ampullaria plant from a seed. I was wondering what i could use for the soil and the proper steps to grow a carnivorous plant from a seed. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Kevin,

You definitely can.  Be wary though of obtaining Nepenthes seed unless you know exactly when the seed was collected.  Many Nepenthes have very short viability on their seed; as little as a month.

I'm not quite as experienced in growing Nepenthes from seed.  Try visiting the forum pages at http://www.alohanepenthes.com  It is run by Sam Estes of the Leilani Ha'pu' Nepenthes Nursery.  He has vast experience in growing Nepenthes from seed.

Good Growing!
