vft seedlings

So I planted my Venus fly trap seeds pretty late, around end of September. Is it possible to skip the first season dormancy in a grow tank so it can keep growing during winter, like Sarracenia seedlings?

Answer
Hi Jad,

For the first season it's fine to keep them in your grow tank.  By the second season they will probably need a dormancy.  Once you get to that point, however, Venus flytraps are definitely more dormancy dependent that Sarracenia.  As an example, We have friends in Hawaii and they can grow Sarracenia just fine; the plants go into a short period of no growth, then resume.  Venus flytraps usually die unless they get short days and cooler weather for a rest period.

Good Growing!
