Hi,
I have a butiful vft trap, but i have ?
I know it is about to be dormancy period for the plant,but is it OK if i put my VFT in the frige? i live in san antonio TX.
Also whats the best way to make the VFT produce seeds(I mean exactly HOW DO YOU POLLINITED)!

Hi Christian,

You live in USDA zone 9, so you don't need to put the plant in the fridge.  It'll naturally go dormant outdoors.  You winters are also very mild, so you don't need any winter protection at all.  We have many customers in the Southwest who grow their flytraps exclusively outdoors with great results.

As for pollination, it's not necessary to hand-pollinate the flytrap flowers.  They self-pollinate very easily, and many insects are also willing to make sure it happens!  Flowers typically bloom in late spring, and seeds are ready for harvest in late summer.  (If you happen to have flytrap flowers now, cut them off because your plant needs the reserve its energy for winter dormancy.)
