dirt dobbers

Question
for years I have always been around dirt dobbers....I walk through them all the time as they fly around me, but they have never once tried to sting me.  I don't bother them, and they don't bother me.  My husband says they are wasps and they sting.  Who is correct?

Answer
Mary,

You both are correct. Mud daubers (also called dirt daubers or dirt dobbers) are wasps and they can sting but they are so non-aggressive stings are very rare. You'd probably have to pick one up to get stung (please don't test this theory!).
