worms

Question
we have been finding these tan worms in our kitchen.  usually around our sink and in our strainer.  they are fast lil buggers and are really tiny.  they seem to have a hard casing.  we live in central pa.    we have a 7 month old and im worried that it could be something that would hurt her.

Answer
Amanda,

Could you post a picture? If they are too small to photograph the best thing is to collect a few in alcohol so they can be examined under magnification. Use a damp Q-tip to pick them up and put them in a small vial of rubbing alcohol. PA has an excellent Cooperative Extension system that can identify these sorts of samples. If you tell me what county you live in I will suggest an office to call, they can also get you in touch with Penn State (or see http://www.extension.org for a list).
