Sod question...

Question
Mr. Joergensen:
We had a landscaper come and install zoysia sod for us, and charged us...both for the sod itself and the labor...for installing 16,000 square feet.
We're having trouble with him...a lot of the sod is bermudagrass instead of zoysia, and he won't fix it...so I had a surveyor come and "survey" the sodded areas...and there is only 11,800 square feet of sod installed.
I know that you always need a little "extra"...and that most landscapers might order a couple of extra pallets.
But if he only installed 11,800 square feet, and charged us for 16,000...do you think he "padded" the bill?  That's almost an extra 30%.
Just wanted your opinion...
Warm regards, and Happy Holidays!

Answer
Awfully sorry we have not answered this yet, David -- it is sitting in the 'question pool' and we are not trained to fish here. I stumbled on it quite by accident, and I sincerely hope you have resolved this legal matter.  Because it is a legal matter.  And one that is making me sick to my stomach.

There are all kinds of people out there with all kinds of skills, but many of them seem to share one skill in particular: They are good at stealing our money.

Most people fortunately are honest and good hearted.  Landscapers included.  God bless them.

The others, like the guy who sold you Zoysia and installed Bermuda, charged for 15K and installed less than 12K, and that's just the stuff we KNOW!

If this guy owned a gas station, he'd be the one putting 87 Octane in the 93 pump.  If this guy owned a bar, he'd be putting Dewars in the Johnny Walker Blue bottle.  And if he sat next to you in class in first grade, he'd be copying your answers.

My opinion is way too late here, but I just wanted to vent it in your direction.  We New Yorkers do that from time to time.  Good thing for that guy with the Bermuda that I don't live in your neighborhood, because you can bet your bottom dollar, I'd be there this morning giving him a piece of my mind.  And that's AFTER you win in court.  I'd be picketing his office.  I'd be driving around with a bumper sticker dissing him, so that every driver behind me at every red light could see what I think of him.  I'd be plastering his name all over the bathroom walls.

Lucky him.

I hope however you being a more civilized, non-New Yorker, that you got justice where justice was due.  Tar and feathers, I say.  That works for me.

The good Mr Joergensen is moved to bigger, better AllExperts questions and if you look around I think you'll find him quick enough, better luck next time.  For now you only have me in your question pool, wandering by.  Sue the bastard.  And send me the judgment, I'll frame it for you.

Peace,
