Laying Sod

Question
I'm located in Central Mississippi. I currently have centipede grass and would like to lay St.Augustine down.

My question is can i cut the centipede down pretty much to the ground, come in with about 1 to 2 inches of sand then lay the St. Augustine on top of that and be ok? Any help you can give will be appreciated.
Thank You,
Ken

Answer
Thank you for your e-mail. The best thing to do would rent a sod remover. They are very easy to use and not that much money to rent. It works pretty much like a lawn mower, and it take all the old grass up right to to dirt. Then you can add some organic material to the dirt and then your ready to re-sod. Good luck and thanks Bill
