Question
I am wanting to plant a savannah holly in my front yard next to water plates.  I have two water plates in middle of front yard that I don't want to look at.  If I plant a savannah holly next to them and cover base with pine needles that would cover them.  Is that a problem with roots and water line?

The best way to answer that question is, "Would I do that to my own property?" My answer would be yes.

The savannah holly doesn't have a huge, destructive root system, so it should be okay, and I really like your idea of covering the water plates with pine needles. That should be beautiful!
