Aquarium water

Question
HI, my gf and i recently made kind of hybrid aquaterrium for fish and carnivorous plants. water circles around but doesn't actually make contact with the plants. Plants are mainly drosera (capensis, spathulata, aliciae, broadleaf capensis, coccicaulis...) and few pingucila sethos.
Anyway i was wondering since i sometimes don't come home for few days could aquarium water cause some kind of danger for the plants if it was to spill into the soil, in  case there is a leakage of some sort.

thanks ahead.

Answer
Hi Vuk,

It could.  Aquarium water, depending on how many fish you have, is going to contain varying amounts of nitrates.  This is fertilizer, and aquarium water tends to concentrate minerals over time depending on how often you do partial water changes, and how hard your water is you're using to refill the aquarium.  The water probably wouldn't hurt Mexican Pinguicula much, but the sundews would not like it at all.  My recommendation is to avoid contamination with the aquarium water.

Good Growing!
